About Prem Mandir
Prem Mandir was built by Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat and opened in 2012. The temple is clad in white Italian marble and is dedicated to Radha–Krishna and Sita–Ram. Its gardens hold illuminated tableaux of scenes from Krishna's life — Govardhan lila, the Kaliya Naag episode and the raas lila — which come alive after dark.
Best time to visit
- Evening — arrive by about 5:30–6:00 pm to see the temple in daylight, the lighting at dusk and the fountain show.
- Weekdays are noticeably calmer than weekends and holidays.
- Shoes are deposited at the entrance; carry a bag for them if the counters are busy.
Getting there
Prem Mandir is on the Chhatikara Road side of Vrindavan, about 10–12 km from Mathura and close to ISKCON. Unlike the old town, cars can reach the area directly. Many visitors end a Mathura Vrindavan day tour here after dark.
