The route from Vrindavan
- Leave Vrindavan towards Chhatikara on NH-19 (ISKCON and Prem Mandir are on this side of town).
- Turn west at Chhatikara onto the road to Radha Kund.
- Pass Radha Kund and Shyam Kund — about 4–5 km before Govardhan town.
- Arrive in Govardhan; Daan Ghati, the usual parikrama start, is in the town centre.
Cars are not allowed on the parikrama marg itself. Your driver drops you at the start point and meets you where you finish.
Mathura to Govardhan
From Mathura city the drive is about 22–26 km west along the Mathura–Govardhan road, around 40 minutes to an hour. Many pilgrims arriving by train at Mathura Junction go straight to Govardhan for the parikrama and return the same day.
Why people go: the Govardhan parikrama
Most visitors come to walk the roughly 21 km parikrama around Govardhan hill, usually starting and ending at Daan Ghati. Our Govardhan parikrama guide covers the route, the stops, how long it takes and the rules.
Combine with Barsana and Nandgaon
Barsana is only about 20–25 km beyond Govardhan, so a single day can cover Govardhan, Radha Kund, Barsana and Nandgaon. See the Govardhan–Barsana–Nandgaon day tour or the Vrindavan to Barsana distance guide.
