Rajasthan permit and tolls
Taxis registered outside Rajasthan pay a state permit/tax to enter. Along with highway tolls and parking, this is charged on top of the per-km fare. Our fare calculator shows the distance fare; the permit and tolls are confirmed when you book.
When to go — and when to expect crowds
- Phalgun Lakhi Mela (around Phalgun Shukla Ekadashi, usually February–March) draws enormous crowds. Roads into Khatu are restricted and the last kilometres may be on foot.
- Ekadashi and Sundays are busier than other days throughout the year.
- October to March is the most comfortable season for the long drive; Rajasthan summers are very hot.
One day or two?
A same-day return means 12–14 hours of driving plus darshan time. Most families either stay overnight in Khatu or Jaipur, or start around 3–4 am. For a two-day round trip, the fare covers at least 250 km per day plus the driver's daily allowance — see outstation taxi from Mathura.
For groups, a Tempo Traveller is usually cheaper per person than two cars.
