Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi
The temple complex at Krishna's birthplace includes the Garbha Griha (the birth cell) and the Bhagavata Bhavan. Security is strict: mobile phones, cameras, bags and electronic items are not allowed inside. Leave them in the car or at the lockers near the entrance. Around Janmashtami, hours extend late into the night and crowds are enormous.
Dwarkadhish Temple and Vishram Ghat
Dwarkadhish Temple stands in the old city close to the Yamuna. Its sessions are shorter than most, so plan it for the morning. A short walk away, Vishram Ghat hosts the evening Yamuna aarti; boats are available along the ghats before sunset.
A half-day Mathura plan
- Early morning: Krishna Janmabhoomi (leave phones in the car).
- Mid-morning: Dwarkadhish Temple before it closes.
- Then: drive 12–15 km to Vrindavan for the rest of the day — see Mathura to Vrindavan distance.
- Or return in the evening for the Vishram Ghat aarti.
Arriving by train? A Mathura taxi can meet you at Mathura Junction and wait while you visit the temples.
